The Bling Ring premiered in may 2013 during the Cannes International Film Festival, opening the competition Un Certain Regard.
Just three years after Somewhere who won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival,
Sofia Coppola hits the croisette with the female star from the Harry Potter's movies, Emma Watson.
The Bling Ring is based on the true story of a bunch of teenagers who's stolen celebrities such as Paris Hilton when they weren't home.
The teenagers used the internet, searching on social networks and blogs information about stars that might be far from home - and the addresses were also found on the web.
The events happened between october 2008 and august 2009 and it appears that the total value of the stolen items goes beyond 3 million dollars !
Sofia Coppola took an article by Nancy Jo sales, "The Suspects Wore Louboutins", published in Vogue, to develop her screenplay.
Fun fact : some scenes were shot in the real houses of stars, like Paris Hilton's one.
Just a day before the first screening in Cannes, we met Claire Julien, Taissa Farmiga, Katie Chang,
Israel Broussard and Sofia Coppola to talk about the movie and the excitement of being in Cannes.
Here's a transcript of the interview (in french).
You can also read the movie review (still in french).
